Job Summary:
The Simulation Coordinator is an experienced healthcare professional responsible for the oversight, management, and day-to-day operations of the Simulation Center (SC). This role includes coordinating simulation-based training activities, ensuring the proper functioning of simulation equipment and technology, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality simulation-based learning experiences. The coordinator will be responsible for facilitating educational programs, managing scheduling, and supporting the development of realistic and engaging clinical scenarios. The coordinator ensures adherence to program policies, training objectives, program outcomes, and current simulation best practices and safety measures. He/she provides leadership and management of the program, its space and equipment. The position requires strong organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills to ensure the Simulation Center meets the needs of learners, healthcare providers, and the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight: The role involves managing the daily operations of the Simulation Center (SC), ensuring all simulation equipment and technology function effectively. It includes overseeing the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-fidelity mannequins, virtual reality tools, and other simulation technologies.
Simulation Program Coordination: The role involves scheduling and coordinating simulation sessions, managing complex calendars, and ensuring proper resource allocation. It also includes facilitating the development of clinical scenarios that align with educational goals and collaborating with faculty, staff, and healthcare professionals to design and implement effective simulation-based training programs.
Educational Support & Facilitation: The role involves supporting faculty in creating and adjusting simulation-based learning experiences to suit different learner groups or clinical teams. It includes guiding and supervising learners during simulations to ensure learning objectives are achieved, as well as facilitating debriefing sessions to promote reflection and enhance the educational experience.
Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders such as faculty, learners, and healthcare providers to ensure successful simulation activities. Communicate effectively to provide clear instructions, feedback, and support during these activities.
Data Management & Continuous Improvement: The responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, and reporting data from simulation activities, such as participant feedback and performance outcomes. This data is used to assess the effectiveness of simulation programs and suggest improvements. Additionally, staying updated on advancements in simulation technology and healthcare education is essential, with new knowledge applied to enhance the SC's programs.
Professional Development & Continuing Education: The individual is expected to engage in continuous professional development to stay current with trends in simulation technology and healthcare education. This includes attending conferences, workshops, and other relevant educational events to improve their expertise and support the growth of the Simulation Center (SC).
Program Administration: The task involves tracking participant attendance, evaluations, and feedback for all simulation sessions, as well as maintaining accurate records of these activities. Additionally, it includes ensuring that the simulation sessions comply with institutional policies and procedures.
Requirements
Education:
Required:
Graduate from an accredited program of Nursing
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, education, simulation science, or a related field.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as healthcare education, nursing, or health sciences.
Experience:
Required:
At least 3 years of experience in healthcare education, clinical simulation, or a related field.
Experience with clinical simulation equipment and technologies, including high-fidelity mannequins and simulation software.
Strong organizational and project management experience.
Preferred:
3-5 years of experience in a Clinical Simulation Center or similar healthcare education setting.
Experience working in a clinical or healthcare environment (e.g., nursing, medical, or allied health).
Skills:
Simulation Equipment Management: Proficiency in operating and maintaining high-fidelity simulation equipment, mannequins, and related software.
Scheduling and Logistics Management: Experience in managing complex schedules, resource allocation, and logistical planning for simulation sessions.
Program Coordination: Ability to coordinate, implement, and assess simulation-based training programs.
Technical Support: Ability to troubleshoot and provide basic technical support for simulation software and hardware.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills to work with faculty, staff, and learners in an interdisciplinary, collaborative setting.
Data Management and Reporting: Proficiency in tracking and analyzing data related to simulation activities, such as participant feedback, session evaluations, and learning outcomes.

Simulation Operations: Operate and maintain advanced simulation technologies, including high-fidelity mannequins and patient simulators, and proficiently use simulation software for scenario development and debriefing.
Program Coordination & Administration: Coordinate and manage the scheduling, logistics, and resources for simulation programs, prioritize stakeholder needs, and track attendance, evaluations, and feedback for continuous improvement.
Educational Support & Facilitation: Facilitate and support simulation-based learning by assisting faculty, adapting scenarios to meet educational goals, and guiding learners to ensure effective learning experiences.
Communication & Collaboration: Demonstrate strong communication by providing clear instructions, constructive feedback, and collaborating with faculty, learners, staff, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance learning and support educational objectives.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current Nursing license to practice in the state of Tennessee
Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSIH) certification within one year of hire (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator)
Preferred:
Certification in clinical simulation, such as Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS).
Other relevant healthcare certification (e.g., Registered Nurse)
